Ultimate Solutions Selects The PTR Group to Support Abatron’s BDI Series of BDM/JTAG Interfaces
Tewksbury, MA – February 21, 2003Ultimate Solutions, INC (USI), a leading distributor of development tools for embedded systems, has signed an agreement with The PTR Group (www.ThePTRGroup.com) to provide technical support to subscribers of USI’s “Priority Access Program.” As the exclusive distributor serving North America, USI is responsible for the sales and support of Abatron’s BDI series. The PTR Group is an experienced team of engineering professionals specializing in embedded and real-time systems solutions, services and training. The PTR Group was recently awarded an exclusive contract to provide training services for embedded Linux power-house, MontaVista Software. This, as well as their charter membership as a MontaVista Professional Services partner, makes them the ideal partner to provide first class technical support for the Abatron tools.

USI’s “Priority Access Program” will enable subscribers to converse with dedicated Technical Staff within The PTR Group to obtain one-on-one support via a toll free phone line or by email. Abatron’s BDI series of interfaces are most commonly used to debug Linux applications on embedded platforms using PowerPC, ARM7/9, MIPS32/64, Xscale, CPU32/32+, Coldfire, and M-Core, CPU’s. “The problems our customers will encounter will vary dramatically, so it’s good to know they will be dealing with experts who are familiar with MontaVista’s toolset and who have many years of experience working with embedded Linux, and other RTOS solutions, on a wide range of platforms” say USI’s Sales Manager, Peter Tympanick.

USI also distributes software that compliments the BDI series, to include Microcross’ Visual X-Tools and Embedded Toolsmiths’ Agile-LX Debugger. “Up until now, we have used independent contractors to provide the necessary support, but we found that the quality of the support was directly related to the contractor’s individual experience. With The PTR Group on board, we have tripled our technical staff overnight which should equate to better service for our customers.

Todd Brackett, President & CEO of the The PTR Group said, “We’re excited about this unique partnership with Ultimate Solutions. USI caters to customers designing embedded systems running Embedded Linux. We have been developing and supporting embedded systems for years so this is a natural fit for us as we have been using Abatron equipment internally for some time. With access to subscribers of USI’s Priority Access Program, we now have the opportunity to demonstrate our expertise to potential customers who could benefit from our services now, or later, in the design process. The agreement is a win-win situation for Ultimate Solutions, The PTR Group and most importantly, the customer.”
