The PTR Group will be offering five instructional sessions at the Embedded Systems Conference in Boston, MA October 26-30, 2008.   The courses will be part of the regular conference sessions held at the Hyde Convention Center. The courses will be delivered by PTR Group Chief Scientist Mike Anderson.

The PTR Group Inc today announced that another satellite that it helped develop, the Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX), was successfully launched on October 19th, 2008, from Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The spacecraft, built by prime contractor Orbital Sciences Corporation (NYSE: ORB), was placed into orbit by Orbital’s Pegasus rocket, which was dropped from an L-1011 aircraft over the Pacific Ocean.

The PTR Group today announced that six of the commercial satellites it helped develop, the ORBCOMM Coast Guard Demonstration satellite and five ORBCOMM Quick Launch satellites, were successfully launched on June 19 from the Kapustin Yar space center in Russia aboard a Cosmos 3M rocket. The PTR Group was a significant contributor to the communications payload flight software present on these satellites. The new communications payloads will enhance ORBCOMM's role as a leading global Machine-to-Machine communications provider. Including NASA's GLAST program, the PTR Group has now assisted in the development of a total seven satellites that have launched within the last month.

The PTR Group Inc. today announced that one of the space-based science instruments it helped develop, the Large Area Telescope (LAT) was successfully launched today from NASA’s Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida onboard the Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope (GLAST)

spacecraft. The spacecraft was placed into orbit via a Delta II “Heavy” rocket. The PTR Group is a significant contributor to the LAT instrument, working with the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD, the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC, and the Department of Energy's Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) in Menlo Park, CA.

The PTR Group will be offering an instructional session at the Linuxworld Conference and Expo

in San Francisco, CA August 4-7, 2008. The tutorial will lead the attendee through the process of setting up for embedded Linux development and actually getting code running on an embedded Linux target -- the Linksys NSLU2 (a.k.a. the NSlug).

 

Attendees should bring their own laptops for use. The tutorial provide a "live" boot DVD for the work and each attendee with get their own NSlug to take home.

The tutorial will be part of the regular conference sessions held at the Moscone Convention Center. The session will be delivered by PTR Group Chief Scientist Mike Anderson.
