Online Training

In addition to our vast experience with onsite instructor-led training, The PTR Group also delivers training worldwide via our state-of-the-art virtual, cloud-based training facility. Users of Windows, Apple OS/X and Linux are able to receive training at their desks using their web browser and a cloud computing client to access PTR’s embedded hardware target boards.  This gives remote students the same great instructor-led training experience without the hassles and expense of travel.

When in our virtual training environment, participants and the instructor communicate via an audio conference bridge line, and view the presentation materials via Cisco’s WebEx service. Participants use their own computers from their remote location wherever a telephone and/or high-speed Internet connection are at hand.

The PTR Online Training environment, which consists of a remote workstation connected to an embedded target, is used for lab exercises and code development. This approach creates a complete development environment for the student without the burden of installing or configuring operating system or development software on the student’s computer.

The only constraint on participation in these courses is the speed of the student’s Internet connection.

Student Machine Requirements

WebEx is supported on multiple platforms including Microsoft Windows® (Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7), Apple OS/X® and IOS (iPhone and iPad), and Linux®. The remote access to the workstation is provided using the NX Client from NOMACHINE. The NX Client also is supported in Microsoft Windows®, Apple OS/X, and Linux® varieties. Both NX and WebEx clients are free to download and installation and configuration instructions are provided to registered students for each course. Verification of proper installation of the clients and access is encouraged to be performed prior to the start of the course. It is recommended that you perform the necessary verifications the week before the course is scheduled to begin, so that any firewall or other connectivity issues can be worked out in a timely manner.

Course Materials

PTR will provide hardcopy of our presentation and lab materials. You should expect to receive a pair of manuals the Wednesday or Thursday the week before the course is to be delivered. One of the manuals will contain printed copies of all the slides the instructor will present. The other manual contains a complete set of lab exercises to be performed during class.

Access Information

The week before course delivery a WebEx registration ID and password will be provided as well as the telephone bridge line number and access code. The online training login information will be provided by email, or by the instructor during the first hands-on session in the course.
